Das Flugzeug wurde von zwei deutschen Jagdflugzeugen angegriffen. Dabei gerieten zwei Triebwerke in Brand. Das Flugzeug blieb aber stabil, sodass die Besatzung abspringen konnte. Kurze Zeit später explodierte die Maschine in der Luft. Deutsche Quellen geben den Absturzort bei Krakaudorf an, amerikanische bei Klagenfurt.
